Eric Boeing, Bankruptcy and Estate Planning Attorney

Eric Boeing is an attorney whose law practice is entirely devoted to helping ordinary people reclaim and retain their wealth.  He focuses on planning and problem-solving, and tries to avoid the costly litigating that so frequently puts legal services out of people’s reach.  Every client is unique, so he uses the legal system’s tools creatively to bring the maximum benefit to each.

Eric earned his law degree from San Francisco’s University of Hastings College of the Law in 2006.  Prior to that, he spent a decade after undergrad outside the legal profession, which experience informs his daily approach to helping people.  He started his attorney career in litigation, but during the 2008-2010 financial crisis he turned his focus to debt collection and foreclosure prevention through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.  In more recent years, he has expanded his practice to Estate Planning, helping his clients preserve their assets long-term, for themselves and for their children.

He loves the work that he does because the Bankruptcy Court is the one place where people can turn for fast, real, and relative inexpensive relief, with full force of law.  By the time most clients come around to the idea of filing a bankruptcy case, they’ve already been through a lot. They’ve lost their jobs. They’ve been threatened with foreclosure, repossession, lawsuits, and wage garnishment. They’ve cashed out their retirement accounts and paid thousands of dollars to useless debt consolidators. They’ve been strung along by the banks in the loan modification process.

On the Estate Planning side of his practice, almost all of his clients are families with one major asset (the home) and one or two children.  That’s no coincidence: having recently purchased a home or had a child is usually the event that causes people to start thinking about putting an estate plan into place.  The other commonality that arises all too frequently is the unfortunate experience of a parent or grandparent having failed to provide for the inevitable, leaving a mess behind for their heirs to resolve.  Eric’s goal is to help his clients avoid a similar result.

Eric is one of the top Yelp-rated attorneys in Oakland.  He regularly presents on estate planning, bankruptcy, and student loan law to both consumers and other attorneys.  Eric lives in the East Bay with his wife and two young children.
